Announcing…Delia {Newborn Baby Photography, Life Prints Portrait Design}

Posted on September 24, 2010. Filed under: Baby Portraits, Image Posts |

So, a little early but what a doll she is!  In my last post, you saw some images of pregnant mom-to-be Stephanie and expectant papa Lance.  Four days later and they brought this beautiful little angel into the world.  And boy is she beautiful!

While you can’t tell from the images you see here, she was wide awake for most of the session with just a couple minutes of sleepy time after a feeding.  We put her on our big “bird nest” bean bag chair with a cozy heater blowing on her and out she went.  Well, right up until the big mean photographer moved her into a new pose.  Then she was awake for the next 2 1/2 hours.  Believe it or not though, she was so at ease and quite for most of it, though totally alert and watching what was going on around her.  At 7 days old, this was pretty amazing.  You can see in the image with daddy just how strong and alert this little baby girl was.  She lifted her little head right off his shoulder and held that pose long enough for me to snap off several frames.  Amazing indeed!

Congrats Steph & Lance.  You’ve got a real sweetie there.

A Beautiful Pregnancy Tradition: {Maternity Photography, Life Prints Portrait Design}

Posted on September 24, 2010. Filed under: Image Posts |

I was so excited to do this shoot because I had wanted to photograph a mom-to-be with henna on her belly for quite some time. When this beautiful pregnant mama came in, she told me that the artist who did her henna tattoo had based it on a Maori design. The Maori’s are the native people of New Zealand, where our pregant mom had spent some time. On top of that, stephanie wasn’t due for two more weeks but delivered four days after our portrait session. Phew! Just in time.

Best Friend from High School {Mother Daughter Portraits, Life Prints Portrait Design}

Posted on September 12, 2010. Filed under: Image Posts |

So, my best friend from high school, Kathy, called me about a month ago and asked when I was coming to visit her in Southern Utah.  I explained all the completely valid reasons why now isn’t a good time. So being true to herself, she arrived on my doorstep the next week (I did get a call a couple of days beforehand to let me know that she and her daughter were on their way.)  That’s my Kathy… spontaneous and ready to roll!

Since I hadn’t seen her in ages and had never met her daughter (who is now fourteen… sad, I know) I decided to bring them into the studio for some fun mother daughter portraits of them. My little gift for being such a lame long distance friend 🙂  I figured I’d better take advantage of them being here since I didn’t know when I’d see them again!

Anyway, Kathy is the ham that I’ve always known her to be and funny enough, her daughter Kyla has followed in her footsteps!  It was so great seeing these two and spending some time with them both in the studio and at Saturday Market!  Hopefully it won’t be so long in between visits next time!

We found a charity! {Special Promotions, Life Prints Portrait Design}

Posted on September 8, 2010. Filed under: Special Offers |

We are VERY excited to have found an organization that we are teaming up with for this holiday season. A while back I had put a request out on Facebook for suggestions on people’s favorite charities because we were really wanting to get involved with a group that we could help out this year.  It didn’t even occur to me that I had one sitting there waiting for us who I dealt with on a daily basis… or at least five days week!

My son attended YMCA day camp this summer and it was a fantastic experience for him.  He had kind of a rough year last school year, and with the help of an amazing staff member at the Y this summer, he has made huge strides socially and emotionally in preparing to enter this school year (which he did two days ago… I can’t believe my little guy is in the 2nd grade!)  Anyway, I was at the end of the year BBQ for his day camp and I realized how very much I appreciate this organization and what was done for my son over the summer.  I remember attending a YMCA week long camp when I was a kid and it was fantastic, but they do so much more than just summer camps for the community. Many of the kids who are able to take part in the camps, child care, etc are able to because of the scholarships that the YMCA offers.  They are a non-profit organization and much of what they are able to do in the community is due to donations.

So as a thank you for what our family has received through them, I wanted to announce a special charity promotion that we are running.  For every client who books a session by Oct 31st, we are going to donate $50 to the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette.  Our goal is to donate $5000 to the YMCA by the end of the year and we want to reward our clients who help us out in reaching that goal.  With every session that is booked and prepaid by October 31st, you will receive 25 custom designed holiday cards.  WE LOVE doing these cards for our clients and our clients rave about all of the comments they receive when they send them out to family and friends.

We will only be booking holiday portrait sessions through November 25th in order to get all of the cards out in plenty of time, but spots have already started to fill up.  We are promoting this in close to 50 YMCA locations as well as through the blog, Facebook & Twitter, so we are expecting spots to fill very quickly.  Give us a call early to schedule, or you may miss out this year.

Thanks in advance to everyone for your support in helping out this wonderful organization that is so important in our community, especially during such tough economic times for so many of our neighbors.  Use code YMCA when you call to book your session in order to receive your complimentary holiday cards.

Take care!

Lora
