Let’s Tell A Story With Your Pictures {Children’s Photography, Life Prints Portrait Design}

Posted on March 17, 2011. Filed under: Baby Portraits, Image Posts, Studio Information | Tags: , , , , |

Have you ever heard of a storyboard?  It’s a term you may hear when you talk to boutique photography studios and it’s one of our client’s favorite products.

This storyboard was created for a family here in Portland Oregon.  Mom, Kim, has worked with the Portland Trailblazers as a Pilates instructor and brought in this jersey and basketball during their family’s holiday portrait session.  I wanted to do something fun for them so I put together this storyboard.  It can be used as a 5×10″ desktop piece on an easel, as a 10×15 framed piece either by itself or with a wall grouping, or even better… as a 20×30 gallery wrap canvas print!

Often, you’ll see multiple images on a storyboard, but sometimes an image just speaks volumes on its own… like this one!

I love doing these custom pieces that really tell a story about what is happening or what is important to a family.  Of course, having such a cute model doesn’t hurt!

If you’d like to know more about our custom storyboards, give us a call as 503.252.5132.  Come check out our main website too!

Oh, and don’t forget to come like our fan page on Facebook to receive a $50 gift certificate towards your next portrait session…

Happy New Year {Life Prints Portrait Design}

Posted on January 3, 2011. Filed under: Articles, Studio Information |

I want to wish everyone a truly happy new year!  Needless to say, I’ve been extremily “un-diligent” in keeping up on the blog for the past two months.  On the positive side, it’s been because we had so many appointments with such FANTASTIC clients that it’s been a rockin’ holiday season for us.  On the down side however, I’ve not kept everyone up to date on with all the great things going on with the studio.

So my first New Year’s resolution (in print anyway) is to keep up to date with the Life Notes blog (and Facebook, twitter, etc… all that online social stuff, ya know?)

In the spirit of that New Year’s resolution, I will be making quite a few posts in the next few days with some images from all the great sessions we’ve been doing the past two months.  We’ve got some of the cutest little clients we could ever hope for (both human and furry ones) and I can’t wait to show them off to everyone.

So thank you to all of our clients for your business and your loyalty this past year… and my hope is that this coming year will bring you all of the happiness and prosperity (in it’s many forms) that you could wish for.

Much love to you all!

All about the Living Social Deal, November 8th {Life Prints Portrait Design}

Posted on November 8, 2010. Filed under: Special Offers, Studio Information |

Hi Folks!

Thanks for coming over to check out our blog and get your questions asked about today’s deal through Living Social.  We’re going to try to answer some questions you may have and then, if you want to leave a comment or ask a question here, we’ll be responding to them throughout the day.

The Deal:  $79 (value $255) That’s a 69% savings!  With this deal you will receive an in studio portrait session that will last up to 1 hour.  You will also receive 15 custom designed holiday cards.

**Prints and other products are available for purchase.

  1. How far out are you scheduling sessions for the holiday cards?  Good question!  We will be booking sessions through Sunday December 5th.  If you get in before then, we’ll be able to get your holiday cards back to you in time for you to mail them out for Christmas.  If you don’t need them before Christmas, then we may be able to book some sessions through the 15th of December.
  2. Can I get a portrait session at a park, my home or other location?  If you would like to purchase this deal and then upgrade to an on location session rather than a session in the studio, we can certainly do that.  The additional fee for on location sessions is $100 during the week and $150 on Saturday or Sunday.  Payment for location fees will be due when you call to book your session.
  3. When can I call to schedule my session?  You can start calling us on Tuesday, November 9th to reserve your session time.  If you’re limited on when you can come in and want to see if we have a specific time available prior to purchasing your deal, then go ahead and give us a call and we can answer that question for you.  Then just make sure to call first thing on Tuesday once you’ve purchased your deal so that we can get you on the schedule for that time slot.
  4. What hours are you open for sessions?   Due to the holidays, we’re extending our hours to include weekdays from 11am-6pm (8pm on Wednesdays) and weekends from 10am-8pm.  Weeknight and weekend spots are limited as we fill up VERY quickly this time of year.  So call as soon as possible to reserve your spot.  All sessions are by appointment only, so make sure you call before you come into the studio!
  5. What if I don’t want to use my session for the holidays?   No problem.  Your Living Social voucher is good for six months and we have lot’s of people book sessions for other times of the year.  The custom cards that we design for your session can be used for Birth Announcements, Graduation Announcements, Engagement Announcements, Thank You Cards… we’ve got all kinds of ideas!  If you decide to wait to use your session, you can still call now to get your date and time reserved.  If you’re not in a hurry, we recommend scheduling your session after the new year when all of the holiday hoopla has calmed down!
  6. How many people can we include in our session?  The Living Social deal is good for up to 5 individuals (big or little!)  You’re more than welcome to include more people.  Each additional person is $15.
  7. The Living Social deal mentions “one pose only”.  Does that mean you only take one picture of us?   We’d like to apologize for the confusion on that one!  We had asked them to take that wording out and we guess we missed one!  We actually take a variety of poses during your session.  You’ve got a whole hour with us in the studio and we try to keep it fun and moving so that nobody gets bored.  We also don’t limit you to a certain number of poses to use for your prints.  You can have a different image on every print if you like!
  8. Can we get the digital files from our session?  We provide all of our clients with 3 web ready images from their session.  You are welcome to use these in emails, on Facebook, etc.  Our high resolution files are not available in order for us to control the quality of prints which folks are seeing from our studio.  If you’d like to read more about this, you can find information about it here on our main website.
  9. Can we include our family pets in our portraits?  Absolutely!!  We love pets.  Dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rats, snakes… horses?  Sure, we’ll include your horse but that’s going to require a location session!!  And for those of you pet lovers who are a bit camera-shy, we can do holiday portraits of just your pets if you don’t want to be in the portrait.
  10. How can I find out about additional pricing?  We are going to have some great packages that we’ve put together just for our Living Social clients.  Our Living Social packages range in price from $75 which include gift prints, wallets, & additional holiday cards to $950 for the premium collection including gift prints, wall portraits, mini “brag books” … the works!  Of course, you are always more than welcome to purchase prints and other products individually as well.
  11. What if I need more than 15 holiday cards?  We’ve got you covered!  We have options for purchasing additional holiday cards built into our special package pricing, as well the option to purchase additional cards in sets of 25.
  12. What do the holiday cards look like and do they come with envelopes?  The holiday cards that are included with your deal are gorgeous!  They are flat 5×7, two-sided cards and they come in a variety of paper types to choose from.  Semi-Gloss, linen (our most popular) & watercolor papers are available.  If you’d like to upgrade to folded cards, square cards or any other designs we offer, we can do that for you for an additional charge.  We design all of our cards based on clients preferences on color and theme and we include both custom text and multiple images if you like.  They really are beautiful and we guarantee they’ll be better quality (and design, of course) than anything you could pick up at Costco or Walgreens!  We know you’re going to love them!

Soooo, what other questions do you have for us?  Post your question here and we’ll answer it.  You may just be getting an answer for somebody else too… so ask away!

We can’t wait to here from all of you and we look forward to meeting you soon.

By the way, don’t forget to opt in to the Facebook deal through Living Social.  You’ll save a buck on your deal by “liking us” on Facebook and we’ll be able to keep you updated with special deals just for our Facebook fans.  Just make sure you opt in after you purchase your deal.
